With every Blog post comes great responsibility to write something worth reading, right? To write something interesting, with a little witty and humor thrown in, and enveloped in a sense of love and passion for what you’re talking about. There are times when the words do not come together so free-flowing from my mind, and I have to sit and really think how to get across how a session, or experience made me feel, in more than, like, two sentences. Ha! But I must be on a roll this week, because this is my fifth or sixth blog post in the span of about a week and a half. I’m sure as we get half way through 2018 my blogging will be quite spare. It’s my goal to not let that happen this time! I’m going to be way more diligent about blogging than I ever have before. I mean, I need a reason to show off my pretty blog, yeah? 🙂
Featured in today’s particular Blog installment of the week, I’m concluding my three day ‘Best of’ posts with “Best of 2017: Weddings” edition. You all must be aware by now, that I photograph weddings. (What?! No way!) It’s what I shoot the most of, in fact! The most blogging you will see me do is revolved around weddings, and love of every kind. Although, I proclaim myself to be a photographer, not specializing in any given form because I’m artist, and sometimes really cool experiences lay outside the wedding realm, just waiting for someone to capture. However, even though that’s the case, I LOVE love. Like, love it, man. I find myself becoming way more emotional at wedding days since my own wedding, and father-daughter dances get me… Every. Single. Time. I’ve lost count over how many weddings I’ve shot since 2013, but I know it’s a lot. Not just including my own, because I regularly second shoot and associate shoot for other photographers. While most weddings are the same, (or rather, share similarities in tradition) they also are each so individually unique, and crafted to each couple. It’s a really cool thing to witness.
These photos below, are a look at my year. As you’ve heard me mention in my last two blog posts, this is my first official year being a full-time business owner. I said goodbye to being a preschool teacher December 2016, and fully embraced small business life and all the challenges that accompany it. I surprised myself, honestly. I had my most successful year to date, because I took a leap of faith, and jumped into an ocean of unknown territory. This wouldn’t be possible without my amazing couples, and clients trusting in me and loving my art. I know, I sound like a sappy actress winning an Oscar for the first time. Ha! But hell, you all deserve the biggest round of applause I can give, because I wouldn’t have the business I do without you. I’ve done a lot of growing, and changing this year, and I can see a difference in my work from even just last year. I booked more weddings this year, started second shooting regularly for my friends, and even began my first year as an associate shooter! My website changed completely after a swift kick in the rear by my mentor, because I realized that something needed to change and I made it happen. You’re looking at progress, folks.
I think I’ve rambled enough for one day. Ha! Without further to do, I would like to present some of my favorites (which is really hard to choose, by the way!) because I din’t want to overwhelm you with like, a hundred images of love, but I’m sure no one would complain. 😉 Thank you all for an amazing year, I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
