I had began this year with a promise to myself that I would travel more than I have before, and make time for myself, my friends and my family. That’s not always easy, as I have always seemed to manage a busy schedule between shooting weddings. However, this is my 2018 resolution! To explore the world and the unseen around me, near or far, toting around my camera to document every moment and place big or small along the way.
One of the first places I decided I wanted to see was the Great Salt Plains State Park in Oklahoma! This park is one of the coolest places I’ve seen. Settled in the most remote part of Oklahoma, without much else around, lies this vast white salt plain. I started to plan this photo shoot with my cousin Caitlyn and her husband Garrett, who live near Oklahoma City. We drove the two and a half drive to the salt plains and after a couple of failed attempts at finding the larger salt plain, we finally arrived to the spot we wanted!
The sun was blaring that day, but giving us some really great directional light. As an added bonus, the salt plain itself acted as one big reflector for the sun. 😉 These two modeled effortlessly and really were themselves out there! It was an absolute pleasure to photograph them and to see this Oklahoma wonder.
Cait + Garrett, thanks for being the best hosts, and for allowing me to take some bomb photos of you both!
