Allow me to preface this blog post by letting you all know, in case you couldn’t tell, that I love love. Probably more than I love a good latte, which is a lot of love. Ha! It would be hard to photograph as many weddings as I do and not feel warmhearted. It’s always a pleasure to experience first-hand the special moments between a couple, especially when you get to call them friends.
Shelby and I go way back, like way back. We actually lived down the street from one another when we were kids! I have some very fond memories riding our bikes up and down the street, exploring through nature and attending the occasional rodeo in Fort Worth. We lost touch when my family and I moved to a new house, and her family moved out of state. Luck would have it that we reconnected while she was in college, attending Texas Tech! Huge shout out to the power of Facebook, where you can reconnect with old friends. 🙂 Turns out, she would also meet her future husband at Tech! Cam + Shelby have been together for several years now, and have stuck together through a move to New Mexico and onto Alabama where Cam would propose to Shelby.
Their wedding day was filled with plenty of joy and sunshine as their friends and family arrived Firefly Gardens to celebrate the couple’s big day. With the help of her mom, the bride slipped into her stunning Stella York wedding dress, and was out the door ready to see her groom for the first look. Cameron’s reaction upon seeing Shelby was one of the most emotional and memorable moments I’ve witnessed as a wedding photographer! It was obvious that he was head-over-heels in love for her. As the ceremony started, the bride and her father made their way down the steps to meet Cameron, where he eagerly took her hand. With their sweet dog Petra by their side, assisting as flower girl and ring bearer, the couple read their vows and exchanged rings. The ceremony concluded with a grand kiss as they were pronounced husband and wife! Seeing as Cameron serves in the United States Air Force, it was only appropriate that the two share a kiss under sabre arch. From there the reception began! DIY elements gave the room a unique touch, with credit to the mother of the groom for creating two spectacular wedding cakes! Believe it or not, cake decorating is not her profession. 🙂 The first dance kicked off with “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, as all eyes were on the couple as they shared a loving embrace. But the evening was just getting started! The guests danced the night away, and the night ended with a sparkler send-off for the newlyweds!
Thanks you Shelby + Cameron for having me photograph your memories.
